Yes, we know that E-Fest claims to the the Largest

Indoor Flying Festival, but you be the judge.

The UNI Dome has a football field with sidelines and end zones plus airspace over the seats on the East side of the Dome for a total flying area of 108,000 square feet with a 162' high ceiling!

E-Fest, held in the University of Illinois Track and Field Armory, has 80,000 square feet of floor space with walls on all sides and a 98' ceiling height.  In terms of interior flying space, the UNI Dome has about twice the interior flying space as the Armory.  If you want to fly indoors without worrying about hitting a wall or the ceiling, the UNI Dome is the place you want to fly.

In 2010 "E/xpo in the UNI Dome" had 116 registered pilots.  E-Fest had over 325 registered pilots.  That's great for the E-Fest organizers, but not the flyers.  In fact, E-Fest has limited the helicopter size to 350 mm blades in 2010 because there just isn't enough room to fly the larger electric helicopters.  (450 mm blades are allowed to fly in the UNI Dome.)

At "E/xpo in the UNI Dome" there are 24 flight stations.  At the left is a photo of the main flight line at Noon on Saturday.  You can see there's no one waiting in line to fly.  So, if you want to talk to other pilots while you wait in line to fly (or you like mid-air collisions), then E-Fest is the place to be.  Look at the picture to the right from E-Fest or go to the E-Fest web site and you'll see pilots waiting four deep to fly.  If you want to get in a lot of flying time and take home what you brought, then you really want to come to E/xpo in the UNI Dome!
